Eurogamer’s report states Microsoft’s desire to revive Fable was in part inspired by Sony’s Horizon Zero Dawn and its critical and commercial success. Fable has been dormant since, though Microsoft still retains the rights to the series and is therefore free to task other developers with making new entries. Comments (Image credit: Playground) My god, Fable is actually on its way. Each further game in the main series was made by Lionhead until Microsoft closed the developer down in 2016, canceling Fable Legends in the process. last updated 16 June 2023 Is Fable 4 headed back to Albion or wiping the slate clean Here's what we know so far. Around 200 people have been drafted in to work on the game at Playground’s UK-based Warwickshire offices, which suggests Microsoft is throwing significant investment at the endeavour, and that Albion will return more fantastical than ever before.įable was created in 2004 by Peter Molyneux’s company, Lionhead, and its sister company Big Blue Box. The Fable reboot being developed by Playground Games, which was first officially revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2020, has a new narrative lead. Sources say it’s still early days for the project, but the pay-off should be massive. Don’t expect its arrival any time soon, either. Original assets exist, but it’s likely that Playground will start again from scratch. The death of Lionhead in 2016 marked the end of co-operative ARPG spin-off Fable Legends, however it’s understood that this iteration of Albion will be a big-budget, story-driven main series entry.Īccording to Eurogamer, the new Fable will be something of a clean break from the previous iterations developed by former studio Lionhead. Finialy, the game is so good, that I will play it again to go down the dark path instead of the good which I beat the game with. While as yet unconfirmed by Microsoft, Eurogamer reports the publisher has handed the reins to Playground, which, if true, comes less than two years after the closure of series masterminds Lionhead Studios. I would love to play a grand theft auto game that would change your character into a dirtyharry, deathwish, city hero for good, or a twisted metal looking, feared by all character for bad deeds. I would say it reminds me of vice city in many ways also, but with more character buildup, because you can fly right throuh the game or you can take your time, doing endless amounts of tasks and many games.Grand Theft Auto should take notes on the good, bad Alignment, and how it rewards you eitherway. I can see why rpg purist are disappointed by how short it is, and the "over-HYPE", but thats it. I haven't had this much fun with a rpg game since windwaker, to me its Zelda meets Maximo, which I love both games. I haven't had this much fun with a rpg This is the "PERFECT" rpg for the gamer whos favorite type of games are not rpgs!, like myself. This is the "PERFECT" rpg for the gamer whos favorite type of games are not rpgs!, like myself. And for what it's worth, I think Fable might be my favorite GAME ever, but not my favorite RPG- that's still Chrono Trigger. Weve already seen it with Microsoft and Halo, and - sorry r/Fable - Microsoft cares more for the integrity of Halo than they did for Fable. Fable, while far reduced from the seven years of hype, is the real deal. Its a classic case of a publisher giving away creative rights to a developer they can influence and mould because there series isnt their passion. This isn't any sort of coherent review of Fable- at the moment I'm far too giddy for that, but please, please, please don't compare Morrowind and Fable in the same breath. I can't walk ten feet without a load screen, or major slowdown. I beat Morrowind, and both the expansions, in the game of the year edition for the Xbox, and the game is so incredibly laggy that it's disgusting. Anyone arguing that Morrowind was better must've been playing it on the magical mystery device that Never Lags At All. I've turned it on six times now, and I can't even skip the intro videos. After months of silence, Playground and Xbox finally showed off Fable 4 during the Xbox Games Showcase, though despite mention. I understand that many things had to be ditched for time and to avoid blowing up the overtaxed Xbox, but all that is gone the moment I put the game into the system. Richard Ayoade features in Fable 4 trailer at Xbox Games Showcase. And there's a separation, in there, of Fable the concept and the game I'm actually holding. And there's a separation, in there, of Fable the I've played Fable, now, after only waiting for a full third of my life for it.
